How to measure for a traditional kilt vest

Follow the measuring instructions below. Do NOT base it solely on other vests sizes as there is a good possibility it will not fit.

Chest size - Measure your biggest size up around the highest point on your chest, with the tape up as high as possible in the under arm. Take a loose, comfortable measurement
Waist Size - The biggest measurement around the biggest part of your belly (typically around the belly button)
Length - This will be from the top of the vest near at the neck down the the lowest point of the vest. We recommend measuring from the base of the (not including collar) neck down to the top of where your kilt will be and then adding 2-3 inches on top of that. REMEMBER: The Prince Charlie tapers from back to front so you will possible want it a little longer so it covers and goes past the top of the kilt

If you follow our measuring instructions, you will get a vest that fits. Guessing or basing solely on other vest sizing could cause your item not to fit. Because this is a custom order item it is not eligible for returns or exchanges due to mis-measuring.

These vests follow standard men’s jacket and vest sizing. For the best fit, please use the measuring guidelines below rather than relying solely on another brand’s size, as sizing can vary.

Chest – Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape high under the arms and level across your back. Take a relaxed, comfortable measurement without pulling the tape tight.

Waist – Measure around the fullest part of your midsection, typically at or near the belly button.

Length – Measure from the base of your neck at the center back (where the neck meets the upper back, not including the collar) straight down to where you would like the vest to end. When wearing a kilt, measure from that same point to the top of the kilt waistband and add 2–3 inches.

Please note: The Prince Charlie (3-button) vest tapers slightly from back to front. You may prefer a slightly longer length to ensure the front fully covers and extends just past the top of the kilt.
