Kilt flashes are worn with traditional kilt hose. Traditional kilt hose is made longer than what is needed so it can be cuffed/folded back over the leg (about 3 inches or so). That covers up the top portion of the flashes where it wraps around the leg and is secured by a Velcro strap. Typically you match your flashes with your tartan, but that is not necessary. Solid color flashes are also common to use.
