Special Order Made in Scotland 1783 Tartans

Iconic colours of Scotland’s landscape.

Inspired by the history of The House of Edgar and iconic colours of Scotland’s landscape, the Seventeen Eighty Three collection captures place and time beautifully – pulling from tradition while looking to the future. Woven from 100% pure new wool and available in 28 new designs and one very special recreation of the Glen Affric tartan:

This tartan has been created based on the oldest known piece of tartan found in a peat bog.  It was uncovered about 40 years ago and was just recently confirmed as the oldest piece of tartan from Scotland.  It dates back between 1500-1600.  A detailed analysis of the piece and working with House of Edgar allowed the tartan to be re-woven with what more than likely was the correct coloring of the original piece.  Be part of Scottish culture with a kilt in the colors of tartan that is between 400 and 500 years old!

Sizing / Measuring

Always measure your actual waist—not your pants size. Men’s pants are typically 2–4 inches smaller than your true waist. The size you choose will be the middle setting on the buckle straps (for example, a size 36 adjusts from just below 34.5 up to just over 37.5). You must measure to get the correct fit—do not guess or use jeans size.

Length

This is based on personal preference. Use the length of your current shorts (high, mid, or low knee) as a guide. Measure to that same point to determine your ideal kilt length. If you’re not sure, middle of the knee is typically recommended.

Returns

Because this is a custom item, returns or exchanges are not accepted for mis-measuring. Please follow our measuring video to ensure the best fit.
