How To Measure for a Utility Kilt
Measure every time!
Using pants size or other kilt sizing will result in a kilt that does not fit correctly.

Order the size you measure. If you’re between sizes, order down for a snug fit or up for a looser fit. Each kilt has two snap settings to adjust 1 inch up or down.
Ultimate Utility Kilts
Order the size you measure. If you’re between sizes, go down (e.g. a 37″ waist should order size 36). Each kilt has two snap settings for a 1-inch adjustment up or down. Plus, the flexible comfort waist expands up to 2 inches beyond whichever snap setting you’re using—giving you added flexibility and comfort.

Estimating Utility Kilt Size from Pants
If you cannot measure the person directly, measure the waistband of a pair of pants that fits them well. The actual waistband will usually measure 3–4 inches larger than the labeled jeans size, although smaller sizes may be closer to 2 inches larger.
If you cannot take any measurements, a reasonable estimate is to choose a kilt two sizes larger than their jeans size—for example, a 40-inch jeans size would suggest a size 44 kilt.
This is only an estimate. Measuring the person directly will always provide the most accurate fit.

Comfort-stretch waist panels give you up to three inches of flexibility (we recommend planning for about two), and traditional snap settings fine-tune the fit by about an inch in either direction, creating a secure and adaptive fit for conventions, festivals, everyday wear, and wherever your next adventure takes you.
A full storage system rounds it out with an under-apron pocket, two large cargo pockets, two rear pockets, and quick-access slash pockets—all reinforced with strong stitching at every stress point. It is extremely important you follow our measuring video and order the size you need based on your measurement, not pants size. All of men's pants are labeled 2-4 inches smaller than what they actually measure. Please see our measuring video below or check out our measuring page here.
If you measure an even size like 38 or 40, then order that exact size. If you fall in between sizes you can size up or down. Each kilt has an extra set of snaps to go up one inch and down one inch. Size up for a looser fit and size down for a more snug fit
