How to measure for a special order utility kilt

For Men's or Women's Kilts

Do not use previous kilt sizing or pant sizing to order. Whether it is your first time or 10th time ordering a kilt, you want to measure as if it was the 1st.

Waist Measurement:

Because some of our utility kilts have an adjustable waist you must follow these sizing instructions exactly:

Standard, Standard II, and Deluxe Utility Kilts: Order the size measured. Do not change it up or down. Each kilt has an extra set of snaps on the waist to adjust up 1 inch or down one inch.

Ultimate Utility Kilts: Order the size measured. The size you order will be the smallest size the comfort was can go. The elastic in the comfort waist will adjust up 2 inches comfortably. It will adjust up slightly more than that but it is not recommended, though once you go beyond the 2 inches you do start to feel the elastic stretching around your waist. It also has the additional snaps on the waist to adjust up or down 1 inch.

Athlete: Order the size measured. This style does have a velcro waist that will accommodate some quite a bit adjustment.

Wild Outdoor/Wilderness Utility Kilts: Order the size measured. With the Velcro you can, literally, have huge adjustments either way. However, we recommend not going beyond 2 inches up or down of the measured waist size.

Length Measurement:

This really is personal preference. While some say that a kilt, traditionally speaking, should come to high knee, we firmly believe that you should order what is comfortable. A good rule we recommend following if you are new to kilts is going with what your current pair of shorts are. If they are high, mid, or low knee, use them to figure out how long you want it and measure to that point.

Returns

If you follow our measuring video in the videos section below, you will get a kilt that fits. Because this is a custom order item it is not eligible for returns or exchanges due to mis-measuring.

How to measure for a kilt with out measuring the waist.

We DO NOT recommend ordering a special order kilt without measuring. Because these are not eligible for returns, if you get the incorrect size, you will end up with a kilt that you can't return and possibly not be able to use.

In this listing you have the options for all of our utility kilt styles except the wild (it is currently not available in the wool fabric). The choice is yours to go with the basic look of the two cargo pockets in the Standard or choose to go all in with the full array of pockets and features from Ultimate kilt style. Either way you go you will be getting an amazing looking utility kilt for an even more amazing price.

Waist Measurement

Follow these instructions carefully—do not use your pants or jeans size. You must measure your waist at the height you want to wear the kilt. Each style adjusts differently:

Standard, Standard II, and Deluxe Utility Kilts

Order the exact waist size you measure. These styles include extra snaps to adjust up or down 1 inch.

Ultimate Utility Kilts

Order the exact measured size. This is the smallest setting of the comfort-stretch waistband, which adjusts up to 2 inches comfortably. Additional snaps allow for 1-inch up/down adjustments.

Athlete Utility Kilts

Order your measured size. The velcro waist allows generous adjustability.

Wild Outdoor/Wilderness Utility Kilts

Order your measured size. The velcro waistband offers wide adjustment, but we recommend staying within 2 inches of your measured waist for best fit.

Length Measurement

Kilt length is personal preference. While traditionally worn to the top of the knee, we recommend measuring based on how your shorts fit (high, mid, or low knee). Measure from the top of where you'll wear the kilt down to your preferred length.
